This is the most likely culprit.Īs another note, I seem to be able to achieve perfectly good screen-readable PDF output with plain pdfLaTeX, and I believe also with LuaLaTeX, both of which fully support microtype and the latter of which supports fontspec. Otherwise TeXnicle has many functions such as the handling of syntax.

The pdf viewer is integrated resulting in a less cluttered desktop and allows a live update of the typeset document one is working with. Try removing that package and seeing what happens. I'm also ignorant of how these things work, so please ELIA5. I am running TeXShop Version 4.44 with MacTex 2020 on Mac OS 10.14.6 and have the same problem on a MacBook Pro and a MacBook Air. The compatibility of TeXShop with VoiceOver is very good. I'm getting ready to start a project where some users will run a screen reader on these PDFs, so I need an accurate text layer.
